Rethink walking experience for pet owners based on artificial intelligence.

Project 1: Pet & Date

Context

when? where? who? why?

To Walk or Not To Walk ? It's not even a question, is it ? All responsible pet owners, mostly dog owners, walk their pets once or twice a day, for a few minutes or hours. However, for some of them, pet walking is a mundane chore, to be completed as fast as possible, and most of the time being... lonely (pet not included).

We have the solution to this problem : Pet & Date ! The idea is to make walking experience funnier for pet owners, allowing them to meet other pet lovers during their walk and, who knows, maybe start a romance if there is a match ! We all know it can be hard for a relationship to work if your partner is not as keen on animals as you are. Thanks to our smart dating app, this would not be an issue anymore because artificial intelligence would connect people based on their mutual interests.

In a nutshell, whether it is in a park, on the street or in full nature, Pet & Date is the matching app pet enthusiasts need if they want to rediscover the pleasure of pet walking while getting along with their possible soulmate.

Target

for whom?

Pet & Date targets all single pet owners who want to turn pet walking into an opportunity to meet new people and maybe find love. Indeed, a walk is a priviledged moment to talk about everything and anything and get to know each other. This creates the perfect context for a date.

More specifically, users must be of legal age to use a dating app, understand how mobile apps work and of course be pet friendly.

Service offered

Pet & Date is a smart Tinder-style app. The aim of the app is to use artificial intelligence to suggest a perfect pet-friendly date nearby. If the two pet owners match, they can plan to go on a date while walking their pets together.

How it works ?
1. The pet owner gives information about its pet : type of animal (dog, cat,...), breed, name, age, personality, walk habits and preferences (location, distance, time of the day,...) and a picture.
2. The pet owner gives personal information : first name, last name, gender, sexual orientation, age, birthdate, location, personality, interests and a picture.
3. After registration, the pet owner must sign a good conduct charter and ensure he or she is respecting all the rules.
4. The AI system suggests the profile of a pet owner located nearby with the same interests : the user is free to start talking to this person via a private chat or to ask for another suggestion.
5. If the two users match, they can plan a walk together with their pets and see if there is love in the air !
6. Afterwards, the users will be notified when their matches go walk their pets and are able to join them if they want to.

What distinguishes these concurrents from our project is that Pet & Date isn't a dog-only app : all pets are welcome (dogs, cats, horses,...).
Moreover, what makes Pet & Date unique is that users get notified when their matches go on a walk so they have the possibility to join them.

Project 2: Pet Recognizer

Context

when? where? who? why?

Have you ever been heartbroken after having lost a pet ? With Pet Recognizer, we want to provide pet owners an AI tracking system using pet recognition to find missing pets as quickly as possible, and avoid all the pain it may cause to the owner.

Our goal is to help pet owners who have lost their pets during a walk. It could be a dog which has escaped because it was scared of a big noise or another dog, or even a cat which is not coming back home. If someone find a pet and think it is lost or missing, Pet Recognizer would enable this person to take a picture of the pet. Thanks to artificial intelligence, the facial recognition software would identify the pet and the name of its owner. Quick, simple and reassuring for the owner who can immediately go find his or her bestfriend.

Target

for whom?

Pet owners who have lost their pets during a walk are our main target. Indeed, it is usually during a walk that a pet is more likely to be lost, for many different reasons : no leash, a scary noise, an aggressive pet, or just a desire to escape. This is why Pet Recognizer targets desperate pet owners willing to find back their lost ones with effective means.

When finding a lost pet, the user opens Pet Recognizer, gives the location, and takes a picture of the pet's face with a smart camera. The facial recognition system will use artificial intelligence to analyze the image and compare this image to a large database containing all pets and the name of their owners (like ID cards for pets). Thanks to the location given by the user, the research can be faster and more efficient. Finally, Pet Recognizer provides to the person who found the pet the name and phone number of the owner to contact him or her.

In a word, the functioning of the app is simple : say where you are, take a pic of the pet, let the AI system do its work and reach the owner !

What distinguishes these concurrents from our project is that Pet Recognizer uses publicly available data to identify pets. Indeed, the owner doesn't have to upload a picture of his or her pet on the app and wait for it to be matched with another one. All the information needed is available in a database : the AI system just has to find the profile which corresponds to the picture.
